About
I’m Axel Hoarau, a photographer with roots in Réunion Island, based in Montpellier and working all over France.
I started with wildlife photography, then shot my first rap nights in Rouen. That led me to the photography BTS at Lycée Auguste Renoir in Paris, where I discovered fashion: I shot my first Paris Fashion Week in September 2024, and every season after that until July 2026.
I love contrast and brut images, grain and hard light, close to brutalist architecture. To me, photography is political: every image says something about its author. I care about the environment, decolonisation and the struggle of women and peoples against oppression.
The people in my pictures come with their own stories. I never want to erase them, and their well-being always comes first. I also sew, to make the clothes I can’t find anywhere else.
Tunnel Vision, my Instagram name, comes from the US rap I grew up with, Kodak Black and Pop Smoke, and from the idea of staying focused.
